The World of Acid Rain, Or Adam Ena Must DIE!!
The Planet of Vapour
The world of Vapour has been around for over 5.8 billion years, with records of human civilization dating back as far as 400,000 years ago. The modern calendar was decided upon over 8,000 years ago, dating back to the start of the era of advancement. All of human history on Vapour is available but is so vast and extensive, attempts to understand and know all of it have vanished from the modern world. Space travel was common thousands of years prior, but knowledge of these ventures have been lost to time, known only by certain scholars in the modern day. Human origin on Vapour is heavily debated and many academics believe that humans originated on another planet.
The LaGrange Empire
The LaGrange Empire was founded after a great civil war caused by the Acid Rain Incident destroyed the previous Nation of LaRond. Founded by Emperor Tezuka, the LaGrange Empire had a strong relation with former enemies in the post-war period, establishing new methods of energy production that have allowed the world to enjoy an unlimited supply of energy. The Mobius Loop, created to circle the planet and connect to Orbital Elevators, permitted the harvest of solar energies and Borealis. The discovery of harvesting energy from Boreal phenomena have revolutionized the planet and led to the end of the energy wars that plagued Vapour for a thousand years.
Each subsequent Emperor had achieved much, but with each new regime, more and more wars broke out among nations for simple issues and led to developments towards mecha warfare and autonomous warfare. The last great achievement from the LaGrange Empire was the invention of the incredible AN-Gel, a fluid capable of regenerating lost limbs. As AN-Gel became more integrated into every aspect of the LaGrange Empire, the development of high quality weapons and the end of war fell to the wayside under the belief that if someone is hurt, healing was easy and that it was cheaper to fight a war of attrition over a war of bullets and blood. This shift in priority has led to the most recent regime under Emperor July, the Fourth Emperor.
Emperor July proved to be the most unpopular Emperor, with nothing noteworthy achieved under his rule. The rise of taxes and pressures on ordinary civilians caused a great shift between classes with dissident growing among lower classes. Eventually, amidst a string of massive riots and protests, Adam Ena led a people's revolution that ended the life of Emperor July and days later, Adam Ena was installed as the Fifth Emperor of LaGrange, leading to the current state of things.
Nation of Androm
The Nation of Androm lies south of the LaGrange Empire and has been at open warfare with LaGrange for 20 years, shortly after the Space Odyssey LOVEJOY left the planet. A border dispute wound up expanding into light skirmishes that soon became bouts of espionage, sabotage and developed into carpet bombings that led to civilian casualties on both sides. Emperor Czar and Emperor July have permitted the reduction of LaGrange munitions and weapon production as well as allowed the quality of products to slip, leading to the war lasting far longer than it should.
The Nation of Androm has a well-known defense that prevents the LaGrange Empire from acting any more aggressive; the people of Androm can emit Iprit gasses from their bodies, preventing ground troops from engaging in any close-range combat, and with the low-quality weapons, LaGrange remains unable to make any ground in the war.
The Republic of Achakosak are close allies with Androm and help them in their war against LaGrange. The people of Achakosak are capable of flight, able to fly at low speeds ranging from 10kmh to 50kmh. However, one individual known as The Axis has superhuman durability and is capable of flying at speeds exceeding 1000kmh, acting as a nuclear deterrent for all nations in the Eastern Hemisphere. If LaGrange launches any nuclear weapons on Androm, The Axis can respond almost instantly. As such, the war rages on.
The Acid Rain Incident
80 years ago, the Nation of LaRond engaged with rebel forces that raged against the policies of the President. After discovery that the rebels primarily resided in the mountains, the military of LaRond plotted to use a weather weapon to cause great storms, hurricanes and floods to wear the rebels down. Little did they know, they had created an incredible phenomena that caused rain to fall down that disintegrated and vapourized all buildings, life and infrastructure in the northern region of the continent. With over 300 million people killed and life rendered uninhabitable, the nations of the world questioned LaRond over what exactly happened.
The official response from LaRond was that "Acid rain caused great catastrophe", attempting to play off their own role. Not a single nation bought the story and a massive world war broke out between LaRond, its allies and new enemies that resulted in the dissolution of the Nation of LaRond. The incident later came to be known as the "Acid Rain Incident" and shaped the modern day. From the world war, discoveries in energy production and technology enabling elevators to space came to be and the LaGrange Empire rose from the ashes of the horrifying Acid Rain Incident.
The northern continent remains a no man's land to all humans, but in the decade following the Acid Rain Incident, giant beasts started to emerge—great monsters the size of skyscrapers—and dominated the region. Even thousands of kilometers away, people can see these kaiju engaging in violent battles within the Acid Rain Zone and dare not approach. Currently, the kaiju do not leave the Acid Rain Zone, but 60 years ago, there was a massive disaster when one kaiju did leave, decimating the city of Cavill and its 40 million residents. Ever since then, LaGrange has remained on high alert and monitors the Acid Rain Zone every day.
The recent choices by the last two Emperors have striped military might away from the Empire and led to everything save for the basic rifles and tanks being left in the Empire. No longer are mechs in production, transforming aircraft have been scrapped, and nuclear weapons have returned to being the default response to kaiju. However, nuclear weapons have failed against kaiju before, and the question remains what will happen and what will be done when a kaiju breaches the Acid Rain Zone again...
